Responsibility

Community

Each of our projects has a community engagement programme, tailored to the local area and working with schools, colleges, charities and other community organisations.

Activities can range from site safety talks, photography masterclasses or charity donations right through to practical projects such as decorating a scouts hut or landscaping a garden for a care home.

Alongside this, we also look at the wider social and economic benefit that our construction projects can bring to an area. With this in mind we work alongside our clients, other stakeholders and our supply chain to establish targets for employment and training and opportunities to source materials locally. We recognise that through construction we have the opportunity not only to generate outstanding buildings, but through our support of regeneration can change the lives of local people.

Community Projects in Action

Bilston Leisure Centre
At our Bilston Leisure Centre £14.9m project, Shepherd’s project team, in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council, is developing and delivering a major social and economic regeneration plan. Our collective aims are to look at how we can best engage with the local community, enhance training opportunities and also assist the local economy.
St Mary’s C of E School
At Shepherd’s £34m project to build a new secondary school for St Mary’s Church of England School at Cheshunt in Hertfordshire, a marketing project was introduced to create and sustain strong links with the local community.
