Collaborative Working Event At Burnley College

The project team behind the new iconic Burnley College campus is holding an event on Monday 20th September to share with private and public sector businesses how their collaborative working approach resulted in an extremely efficient delivery of the £81 million new building.

The evening is being held on Burnley College’s campus from 6pm-9pm with presentations from Hugh Bramwell, Principal of the College; and from DLA Architecture, Shepherd Construction and AA Projects; followed by a guided tour of the new college.

Collaborative working between the client, the main contractor and the other members of the project team, is becoming even more crucial on new-build projects in the current economic environment, when keeping costs under control and completing projects on-time are both of the utmost importance.

As part of this approach, main contractor Shepherd Construction will be sharing with the audience how its adoption of the ‘lean manufacturing’ technique is helping to improve construction efficiencies within the project teams on a daily basis.

The new Burnley College campus has been hailed a ‘world class learning environment’ since its completion last July, and has enabled a Centre for the University of Central Lancashire to be established in the town for the first time. The new building recently won the Local Authority Building Control Award for Best Education Development in the North West.

Booking for the evening is essential. Please contact Laura Richardson at Shepherd Construction on 01904 660512.
