Work is about to start on installing a hydraulic ramp at the bottom of the second swimming pool, which will enable the floor height and therefore the depth of water to be varied according to whether the pool is being used for diving or teaching children to swim.
A rainwater harvesting system is also being installed and work on the Bilston Boulevard will start in three weeks’ time. The Boulevard will be a pedestrian walkway that will link the new leisure centre to future developments within the Bilston regeneration programme.
The new leisure centre, which is being built on behalf of Wolverhampton City Council, is set to provide state-of-the-art facilities that include two swimming pools, sports hall, health and fitness suite, four squash courts and meeting rooms.
