Shepherd Construction Appoints New Managing Director For South Division
National contractor Shepherd Construction has appointed Mark Tant as managing director of the contractor’s South Division to spearhead the company’s continuing growth strategy across the South East and Home Counties.
Mr Tant, who will be based at the company’s London office, joins Shepherd after a 29-year career at Willmott Dixon, the last eight years of which were spent in the role of managing director for South London and the Southern Home Counties.
He played a key role in helping Willmott Dixon win £100 million of work through the Improvement and Efficiency South East Framework, retaining their place on the framework when it was renewed in the summer, as well as securing a place on the Gatwick Airport Major Projects Framework, following success under the BAA Framework.
In his time as MD, he also headed up Willmott Dixon’s strategic team on supply chain partnering for two years and led their approach on sustainable development at its inception within Willmott Dixon. In recent years, Mark has led their approach to the Hotel and Leisure sectors, securing projects such as the University of Surrey Sports Park and the redevelopment of Epsom Racecourse.

Shepherd Construction opened its London office at the start of 2011 and relocated its team from Slough to capitalize on the first signs of recovery in the Capital and be based nearer to potential clients, business partners and consultants.
Projects currently being handled by the South Division include The Atrium, a £27 million project delivering luxury apartments on Park Road near Regents Park; a £58 million new school at Holland Park, and a £100+ million project to deliver new facilities for the Institute of Animal Health at Pirbright in Surrey.
Shepherd Construction has principal offices in London, Leeds and Manchester, a head office in York and regional offices in Birmingham and Darlington.
