Turf Cutting held for IAH Pirbright
The formal start of works on the Institute of Animal Health Project at Pirbright project was marked this week with a turf-cutting event. Over 300 guests were welcomed to site by Joe Brownlie, Chairman of the Trustees Board, to watch the ceremony and hear speeches from David Paton from the IAH and Shepherd Constructions South MD Richard Vining.
The redeveloped Pirbright site will include the construction of a new high security laboratory building (Main Lab Building), a new gatehouse and energy centre and the refurbishment of two existing buildings, as well as infrastructure works and demolition of outdated structures.
The £110m project is scheduled to complete in December 2013 and will enable science at Pirbright to excel as an international centre of excellence in veterinary virology.
