The £19 m project, which is being built by Shepherd Construction, will provide a total of 479 bedrooms across six separate buildings.
The scheme includes a six wing, four-storey, ‘Cluster Flat’ building, with double bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, as well as several town house buildings. The buildings are all timber framed, with timber cladding, with the project aiming to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
At present, you will see that we have demolished the old accommodation buildings and are now progressing the frames. At present the frame on Blocks A and D are complete with the brick work now underway. On Blocks B, C and E, works are progressing, with completion of the timber frames due in January. To ensure a consistent level of performance and quality throughout the project, we have developed a sample bedroom and kitchen, which is due to be complete in January. This will provide a marker from which all other rooms will be compared.
