This technologically advanced centre was the first phase of the Hospital’s refurbishment programme.  The new three-storey building provides two operating theatres, two cardiac catheterisation laboratories and intensive care as well as high dependency and in-patient beds.  As well as the installation of high specification specialist equipment, a further key challenge on the project was the logistical planning of working within a live hospital environment.  The site was located adjacent to existing endoscopy and oncology buildings, so careful management of any potential disruption was critical.
