The internal layout of the Institute follows a new approach to the design of research laboratories, separating the practical laboratory from the write-up area, to create a distinct space for analysing and sharing information. The building accommodates 350 scientists on accommodation over five floors. The building’s stunning façade comprises vertical terracotta blades set at varying angles to the street in front of a glazed envelope, supported by a finely detailed stainless steel suspension system.
