Redevelopment of RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning, a school and children's home for young people who are blind or partially sighted and have complex needs. RNIB Pears Centre builds on fifty years of expert care and education, providing a range of specialist services including music, speech and language therapy and a hydrotherapy pool.
The children's home is a series of five individual single-storey houses, each with six bedrooms and direct access to private gardens. The home provides full-time accommodation for up to 30 young people, with the school providing education facilities for up to 70. Having been completed, the new facilities enable RNIB to provide individually-tailored support to more young people, maximising their potential for learning, independence and fulfilment.
