Trinity Walk, Wakefield

Value    £103m
Size      46,451m²
Client   Sovereign Land

This major new retail development includes 70 modern retail units of varying sizes, including a 8918.7m² store for Debenhams. The lower floor of the development has been taken by Sainsbury’s and their 8547m² store feeds directly into a 1,000-space car park. Two large public squares and a redeveloped market hall also form part of the scheme, together with restaurants, cafes and other fashion stores.

Trinity Walk has launched Wakefield as one of the top 60 shopping destinations in the country and is the first shopping centre to be completed since the recession.  The project was severely affected by the economic downturn when the original developer lost it’s funding and the scheme went in to administration. With new partners on board, Sovereign Land and AREA Property Partners, Shepherd brought about the rescue of this project by attracting new funding and modernising the design.
